LIGHT RIGID (LR) TEST
The LR Truck Licence permits operation of a light truck or bus that can transport more than 12 passengers (including the driver) while adhering to the 8-tonne weight limit.

LIGHT RIGID LICENCE DETAILS
To be eligible for a light rigid licence, individuals must:

  • Have held a valid car licence for a minimum of 12 months, including the first year of the Green P.

  • Pass the Queensland Transport-administered Heavy Vehicle theory test.

It is crucial to note that individuals may elect to take the theory test on the same day as their driving test.

PRE-REQUISITES & REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible, you must:

  • Hold a valid Australian Car Driver Licence for a minimum of 12 months.

  • Provide secondary identification.

  • Wear appropriate clothing, including fully enclosed boots or runners.

  • Have a functional level of English language comprehension, as English is the sole language used for training and assessment.

The procedure for obtaining a Light Rigid (LR) Truck Licence entails:

  • Completing the written knowledge test, which Driving Test Experts will arrange on your behalf as part of the Full Package.

HEAVY RIGID (HR) TEST
Our Heavy Rigid Driving Course at Driving Test Experts provides comprehensive training for individuals seeking to obtain their heavy rigid truck licence, with experienced instructors guiding students through safety protocols, manoeuvring techniques, and practical driving skills to excel in the industry. The Heavy Rigid Truck Licence authorises the operation of heavy vehicles, such as:

  • Trucks

  • Buses

  • Mobile cranes

  • Prime movers

These must have a GVM exceeding 8 tonnes and three or more axles, including articulated buses that can bend in the middle.

PRE-REQUISITES & REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Hold a current Australian Driver’s Licence or higher, with a minimum of two years’ experience.

  • Provide secondary identification.

  • Wear suitable attire, including fully enclosed footwear.

  • Possess a functional understanding of English, as it is the sole language used for training and assessment.

Additionally:

  • Applicants must pass the written knowledge test and on-road practical driving test administered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

  • If they hold an LR or MR Licence, the written test is exempt.

HEAVY RIGID (HR) TRUCK TRAINING
The process for obtaining a Heavy Rigid (HR) Truck Licence involves:

  • Completing the written knowledge test; Driving Test Experts will arrange this on your behalf as part of the Full Package.

HEAVY COMBINATION (HC) TEST
The Heavy Combination Driving Course offered by Driving Test Experts provides comprehensive training for individuals pursuing their heavy combination (HC) licence. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, students acquire the necessary skills and knowledge for safe heavy combination vehicle operation. This course emphasises:

  • Practical driving skills

  • Road safety

By enrolling, individuals take the first step towards a fulfilling career in heavy vehicle driving.

HEAVY COMBINATION (HC) TRUCK LICENCE
A Heavy Combination Truck Licence permits the operation of:

  • A truck, prime mover, or mobile crane exceeding 8 tonnes GVM

  • With a trailer exceeding 9 tonnes GVM

To be eligible for this licence, you must hold a Medium Rigid or Heavy Rigid licence for a minimum of 12 months.

PREREQUISITES & REQUIREMENTS
A prerequisite for participation is:

  • Holding an MR or HR open or P Class for a minimum of one year.

  • Providing secondary identification.

  • Wearing suitable clothing, including fully enclosed shoes such as boots or runners.

  • Having a practical level of English language comprehension, as English is the language used for all training and assessment.

OBTAINING A HEAVY COMBINATION (HC) TRUCK LICENCE
To obtain a Heavy Combination (HC) Truck Licence, you must:

  • Have held an MR or HR open or P Class licence for at least 1 year.

  • Undertake driving lessons with Great Heavy Driving School.

  • Pass the Heavy Combination (HC) Practical Driving Test, which Driving Test Experts will arrange as part of the Full Package.

HC TO MULTI COMBINATION (MC) ASSESSMENT
A multi-combination vehicle is characterised by a vehicle towing more than one trailer, including B-doubles and road trains with varied configurations, each with a gross vehicle mass over 9 tonnes.

To be eligible for MC licence training, you must:

  • Have held a Heavy Rigid or Heavy Combination licence for at least 12 months.

The training and assessment process is competency-based, entailing:

  • Written theory

  • Practical demonstration of skills, as specified in the Multi Combination TLIC4006 course unit

This training and assessment are undertaken in collaboration with our partner instructor.
