This introductory lesson includes pick-up and drop-off services. Our qualified instructor will provide an explanation of the vehicle’s components and accessories, as well as its operation. The instructor will then take you on a drive to the nearest Department of Transport testing centre to familiarize you with the testing environment. Automatic introductory lessons can be conducted in either the instructor’s vehicle or your own. However, manual introductory lessons must be taken in your own manual vehicle.

They must wear suitable attire, including fully enclosed footwear, and possess a functional understanding of English, as it is the sole language used for training and assessment. Additionally, applicants must pass the written knowledge test and on-road practical driving test administered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, unless they hold a LR or MR Licence, in which case the written test is exempt.

To obtain a Heavy Combination (HC) Truck Licence, you must have held a MR or HR open or P Class licence for at least 1 year, undertake driving lessons with Great Heavy Driving School, and pass the Heavy Combination (HC) Practical Driving Test, which Driving Test Experts will arrange as part of the Full Package.
HC TO MULTI COMBINATION (MC) ASSESSMENT
A multi-combination vehicle is characterised by a vehicle towing more than one trailer, including B-Doubles and Road Trains with varied configurations, each with a gross vehicle mass over 9 tonnes. To be eligible for MC licence training, you must have held a Heavy Rigid or Heavy Combination licence for at least 12 months. The training and assessment process is competency-based, entailing written theory and practical demonstration of skills, as specified in the Multi Combination TLIC4006 course unit. This training and assessment are undertaken in collaboration with our partner instructor.
